“Missing the Mark”

As Sportsmen and women we realize our success will be greatly determined by our ability to hit the mark. This is why the most successful sportsmen and women dedicate themselves to hours and hours of relentless practice for they know without such effort they will greatly hinder their ability to succeed.

As Sportsmen and women we are drawn to the great outdoors for there is something about the preparation, the quest, and the harvest that fulfills one’s soul. Genesis 1: 28 gives us insight into God’s plan for man and those critters we pursue, which helps us understand that which draws us to the great outdoors.

“And God blessed them (Adam and Eve). And God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

God created man and gave him dominion over those critters…that is why we are naturally drawn to those critters!

Sadly, many people become so obsessed with their desire to enjoy God’s creation that they fail to honor the Lord as Creator. To do so is to truly miss the mark. As Creator, God has the right to dictate to His creation what are His goals and standards for our lives, but few honor Him as God for they have chosen to worship the creation rather than the Creator. God wants us to enjoy His creation, but not to make it our god.

You can afford to be wrong about a lot of things in life, but where you will spend eternity is not one of those things. You can afford to make some poor relational decisions in life, even some poor investment decisions, but you cannot afford to miss God’s mark for enjoying eternity with God. The Mark is Jesus. Jesus had this to say about Himself and eternal life:

“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6)

God the Father desires to have a relationship with you through His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ and if you are ever going to enjoy that relationship you must first make Jesus the focus of your aim.

Jeremiah Sportsmen’s Ministry is here to help you with your aim so you don’t miss the most important mark of your life.
